The inaugural Ballin’ in the Park, curated by Vulture Culture (Rottofest) & Whiteboy Dunking (One-up Microcinema), will not only showcase some of the finest ballers in town but also present a wide range of activities including Hip Hop Beats courtesy of The Community (DJ’S Diger Rokwell, Silence, Arms in Motion & Emcees: Archi, FG & Empty), Sneaker Swapmeet, skateboarding demo’s, free sausage sizzle and Budweiser beer garden.

3ON3 Championships: We have two leagues in which to enter: Social and Elite. Whether you’re the next Lebron James or even if you haven’t touched a ball in years, we want you to play!

3 Point Competition: An NBA style 3 point competition where you have 1 minute to sink as many triples as possible.

EPIC StoryTellers at the Windsor – 14/3/2013

Ahoy landlubber!

I be the Captain of the Transperth late night ferry. And we be celebratin ’ our extended late night ferry services by putting on a special free evenin’ of epic storytelling at The Windsor in South Perth.

It’ll be featurin’ professional storytellers from Barefaced Stories troupe, some of the best land based solo raconteurs,from comedians to professional wrestlers. Each storyteller will take to the stage in turn with nothing but their true life tales some humorous and some downright crazy.

Storytelling is honest, risk taking and refreshin’ entertainment that satisfies deep down in yer belly!

MOJOS MONTHLY COMEDY: HEADLINER BEN DARSOW (SA)

The iconic North Fremantle venue Mojos has added live Stand-up comedy to its list of regular offerings. Every third Tuesday, the chairs come out and it transforms into Mojos Monthly Comedy.

After a SOLD-OUT show in December, Mojos Monthly Comedy is fast building a reputation on the local scene as a night of laughs not to be missed.

Ben Darsow regularly tours Australia’s top comedy clubs and festivals. Entertainment website WhatsOnSydney.com recently quoted “claims of “next big thing” can be tiresome, but in Ben’s case are genuine…if you don’t know who Ben is now, you will” , while Sydney’s EverGuide.com.au also penned “Ben Darsow is one of Adelaide’s finest young comedians. Hell he’s probably one of Australia’s best at the moment.”

The ‘King of Urban Comedy’, Anthony Salame has toured the world to wide acclaim, sold out shows at international comedy festivals and at all of Australia’s top comedy venues.

As well as sharing the stage with comedians such as US legends, Pablo Francisco, Maz Jobrani and Jo Koy, Anthony’s unique edginess and hip-hop flair have taken him into the musical arena as comic support for LL Cool J, De LA Soul and Bobby Brown.

ANTHONY JESELNIK AUSTRALIAN TOUR

Hot on the heels of the announcement of his Australian debut at Rottofest on Rottnest Island off Western Australia this September, US comedian Anthony Jeselnik has announced Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane performances will form part of his first ever trip to Australia.

Hilarious and controversial, Jeselnik has been described as both “the satanic prince of stand up” and “the funniest guy in the entire world” and is best known for his outrageously edgy and controversial stand-up on the Comedy Central Roasts of Charlie Sheen and Donald Trump.

Originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Jeselnik has performed his stand up on CONAN, JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE and was the first ever stand-up comic to appear on LATE NIGHT WITH JIMMY FALLON. He was named one of Variety’s 10 Comics to Watch in 2008 and one of Comedy Central’s Hot Comics in 2009. Rottofest, Western Australia’s only ‘overseas’ comedy, film and music festival that you don’t need a passport for, has announced its headline act as well as its 2012 line-up of comedy, films and music performances on Rottnest Island from Saturday 8 – Sunday 9 September 2012.

The 4th annual Rottofest, curated by Vulture Culture, will be a stellar weekend of laughs, tunes, visual delights and good times, celebrating the best musicians, stand-up comedians and comedy films from across the country. Hilarious and controversial US stand up comedian Anthony Jeselnik (Comedy Central, HBO) will be making his Australian debut on the island and will also be the first international guest in Rottofest’s history. Described as both “the satanic prince of stand up” and “the funniest guy in the entire world”, Jeselnik is best known for his outrageously edgy and controversial stand-up on the Comedy Central Roasts of Charlie Sheen and Donald Trump, and his live show is unmissable.

Alongside Jeselnik will be special stand-up comedy performances from legendary Australian comedian Tim Ferguson (Doug Anthony Allstars), ARIA-nominated Chris ‘The Bloke’ Franklin, Mel Buttle (Triple J), Dayne Rathbone (National Raw Comedy Winner 2011), Nick Cody (VIC), Matt Dyktynski, (VIC) and WA’s best comic talents along for the rollicking ride.

Rottofest prides itself on showcasing the best up-and-coming local and national musicians over the weekend, and this year the aural treats come in the form of Triple J Unearthed indie-surfpop marvels Millions (Brisbane), Tomas Ford (Perth), Stillwater Giants (Bunbury), Sonpsilo Circus (Most Promising New Talent– 2012 WAMI Awards) and many more superb local acts who will perform at Rottofest’s central hub, Hotel Rottnest.

Tim Ferguson will also host screenings of the funniest filmed comedy sketches and comedy short films, curated by Rottofest, which will be vying for a piece of the $3,000 cash prize pool. Submissions of short films up to 15 minutes in length, or filmed sketches up to 3 minutes in length are being accepted from Australian Residents until 20 July 2012.

VC to run monthly HaHa’s at Yaya’s Comedy Club.

David Cronin has passed the HaHa’s baton to Vulture Culture and we’re running with it. The next show is going to be massive and it will be an example of what to expect moving forward – all killer, no filler stand-up comedy.

HEADLINER: ARIA nomintated Chris ‘The Bloke’ Franklin (QLD)

Chris is one of Australia’s premier comedy stars. He’s an Aussie bloke, a yobbo or a bogan, from his flannelette shirt to his double plugger thongs. His “Hoganesque” style of comedy appeals to every average Australian and touches on the delicate issues of beer, sport and relationships.

Vulture Culture Comedy Showcase

Vulture Culture will be guest programming a free night of stand-up comedy at the Hyde Park Hotel as part of the weekly Raw Hyde on April 19th from 9.00pm – 11.00pm.

The Full line-up includes:

MC: Tomas Ford (will also be performing a set of live disco covers after the stand-up comedy)

ROTTOFEST 2012 CALL FOR COMEDY FILMS NOW OPEN

Rottofest, Western Australia’s only ‘overseas’ festival that you don’t need a passport for, is

accepting comedy short film and sketch entries from across Australia for this year’s Festival to

be held on Rottnest Island from Saturday 8 – Sunday 9 September 2012.


Australian residents can submit a short film up to 15 minutes in length or a filmed sketch up to 3

minutes in length that has been produced on or after 1 January 2011.


Deadline for entries is 20 July 2012. All finalist shorts and sketches will be screened at
Rottofest and will be in the running for the following cash prizes:


FUNNIEST SHORT FILM – $1,500 cash prize

FUNNIEST SKETCH – $1,000 cash prize
